The American Academy of Dermatology (AAD) was founded in 1938 to encourage and provide continuing education in dermatology. The Academy sponsors a number of educational events for its membership throughout the year. Educational materials are available for dermatologists, physicians, medical students, allied health professionals, schools, and the public.
AAD materials, which are designed for use by health professionals, include slide-tape programs which constitute courses in clinical dermatology; dermatologic teaching slides on various dermatoses, skin tumors, and skin infections; dermatopathology slides, which consist of sets of microscopic slides and corresponding syllabi of case protocols; and videocassettes. Materials are available for schools and the public, as well as health professionals. They include a variety of pamphlets on skin care, contact allergies, skin cancer, and other dermatologic subjects. Serial publication: Dialogues in Dermatology (multimedia journal for dermatologists), monthly--an audiocassette with appropriate support materials such as slides, references, and bibliographies covering clinical aspects of dermatology, literature reviews, basic and applied research, and socioeconomic issues. Publishes the Journal of the American Academy of Dermatology and Dermatology World, both monthly.
