Statistics is a mathematical science pertaining to the collection, analysis, interpretation or explanation, and presentation of data.

PHMSA provides both data and statistics to the public.  In particular, incident statistics are provided to help stakeholders and the Federal government evaluate and improve safety measures, making our nation safer and cleaner.
