Mississippi Makeover Project

Laura Jester
Watershed Conservationist
Dakota County Soil and Water Conservation District.

Ms. Jester will discuss the Mississippi Makeover Project, a comprehensive program to protect the water quality, wildlife, and recreational benefits of the Mississippi River in Spring Lake, the Lower Vermillion River, and Pool 3--all while incorporating significant public and agency coordination.

Location
St. Anthony Falls Laboratory, Auditorium
2 Third Avenue SE, Minneapolis 55414 (at 3rd Ave. SE and Main St. SE)

St. Anthony Falls Laboratory is located on the river, near St. Anthony Main (across from downtown Minneapolis). Limited free parking is available in the SAFL parking lot; otherwise, there are nearby meters and there's a pay surface lot at the corner of 2nd St. SE and 3rd Ave. SE.

If you haven't already seen it--and weather permitting--plan on spending a few minutes after the meeting enjoying a guided tour of St. Anthony Falls Laboratory Outdoor StreamLab, a premiere outdoor research facility studying human-river interactions. Karen Campbell (Education Director, National Center for Earth-surface Dynamics) will be our guide.
