Service Improvement Commitments

Result

We will:

Decrease the processing time of formula submissions.

While the performance standard was lowered to 10 days instead of 30, the actual processing time increased due to a severe shortage of staff.

Plan for an electronic query system.

The hardware to implement this system is in place but the necessary software development has not been completed at this time.

Provide definitions of terms used in the regulations.

A glossary of limited scope was compiled and distributed to new manufacturers of SDA products.

Future Plans:

The Laboratory staff will continue to work with industry members to develop additional general use formulas. This will diminish the number of formulas that the manufacturers will be required to file with ATF. This will steamline their operations and allow the Laboratory staff to focus resources more effectively.
