In 2004 the Proudman Oceanographic Laboratory Library merged with the University of Liverpool Oceanographic Library. The library is located on the second floor of the Joseph Proudman Building, number 106 on the Liverpool University precinct map
The library is open between 09:00 and 17:00, Monday-Friday.
POL/BODC staff and University staff and students have full access rights to all the services that the Library offers. Services are offered to non-members of POL/BODC and the University when material is not readily available from elsewhere under a variety of schemes.
There is no single source that lists all of the holdings of the Library. The University Library's Innopac automated catalogue (OPAC) lists all of the books and current journals that are held in the Library. A card catalogue exists for items published before 1985. This includes books, reports, conference proceedings and papers as well as journal articles. University staff and students, including honorary staff, can only access electronic resources provided by the University, there is no access to electronic resources provided by POL/BODC.
