WASHINGTON – GobiernoUSA.gov, the official source of U.S. government information in Spanish, has formed a partnership with the ASPIRA Association. The relationship between these two organizations will provide increased public access to government information and services among Hispanic youth.

The ASPIRA Association is a national Hispanic organization, founded in 1961, that works to empower Hispanic youth and enable them to succeed in the educational arena, develop their leadership skills and serve their community. GSA's Office of Citizen Services and ASPIRA signed a Memorandum of Understanding to facilitate the integration of official government content in Spanish from GobiernoUSA.gov, and in English from USA.gov, to ASPIRA’s website. In addition, the relationship will support other educational outreach programs and activities aimed at providing ASPIRA constituents with access to valuable government resources.

According to the US Census Bureau, the growth among Hispanic youth has significantly contributed to the Hispanic population increase in the United States. Despite their gains in population size, Hispanic youth still trail their non-Hispanics counterparts in educational attainment.

“GobiernoUSA.gov is focused on serving the needs of the Hispanic community and we are particularly excited about extending our reach to the youth,” said Teresa Navarro Nasif, Acting Deputy Associate Administrator, OCS.  “Our goal is to provide access to official, trustworthy, and up-to-date government information and services in their native language.”

GobiernoUSA.gov, brings together in one centralized location information from federal, state and local government agencies in Spanish. The site is organized by topic and by audience. GobiernoUSA.gov’s content is also distributed through other online channels including social media outlets such as Twitter, Facebook and partnerships with media publishers such as Univision.com.  In addition to providing information online in English and Spanish on USA.gov and GobiernoUSA.gov, GSA's Office of Citizen Services answers questions in English and Spanish about government programs via phone at 1 (800) FED INFO.
