About NCET Members

The Steering Committee

Representatives from the following organizations make up NCET's Steering Committee:


The goal of this committee is to facilitate NCET’s mission to foster the professional advancement of students and pre- and post-doctoral fellows at the EPA in Cincinnati, Ohio.

Co-chairpersons
Two co-chairpersons are elected by the members of the steering committee each September. The responsibilities of the co-chairpersons include ensuring the timely appointment and/or election of new members and chairing and conducting Steering Committee meetings in the proper manner and order as stated in NCET’s Charter.

Secretary
A secretary is also elected by the membership of the Steering Committee and is responsible for keeping a file of Committee minutes and subcommittee reports, managing the general correspondence of the Committee, maintaining a record of the bylaws and record any amendments to them and maintaining the role/attendance of the Steering Committee meetings.

Steering Committee Members
Other members of the Steering Committee are recruited on a voluntary basis at the General Assembly meeting in September, to serve a 12 month term. Steering Committee members must attend 50 percent of scheduled meetings, communicate to the Committee the concerns of the trainees they represent, disseminate information and items of special interest to the trainees in their division or laboratory and forward information from Steering Committee members to the members of their laboratory or division within 48 hours after receiving it.


The General Assembly

All non-permanent M.D.s, Ph.D.s, D.V.M.s, or equivalents and pre-doctoral scientists are eligible NCET members (regardless of funding source) and are eligible for membership on the Steering Committee. All EPA employees and NCET members may attend the General Assembly Meetings. Only NCET members or NCET liaisons may attend the Steering Committee meetings. EPA employees may only attend the Steering Committee meetings upon invitation from an active Steering Committee member.
