Through San Antonio's response to Hurricane Katrina the San Antonio Metropolitan Health District-Public Health Emergency Preparedness Division created a Medical Volunteer Coordinating Committee (MVCC) in response to the medical needs of Evacuees. The MVCC is able to be fully functional and able to serve the needs of the community in an incident response. i.e.: Hurricane, Flood, Tornado, Ice Storms, Fire, Biological Events, ect... The key partners for the MRC are Bexar County Medical Society, Center for HealthCare Services, Department of State Health Services Region 8, Texas Department of State Health Services, Angel Staffing, University of Texas Health Science Center School of Nursing, University Health System, and American Red Cross. The MVCC was activated for Hurricane's Dolly, Edouard, Gustav and Ike. |
