Find out MoreRCI Hosts Full-Day Session at Recent Aging in America Conference In conjunction with the 2009 Annual Conference of the American Society on Aging and the National Council on Aging held March 15-19 in Las Vegas, Nevada, the RCI presented an all-day session: "Evidence-Based Programs for Caregivers: Yes, You Can!" Over 300 individuals representing service agencies, universities, and philanthropic organizations attended the session, which included top researchers in the field of caregiving. "Because caregivers are viewed as expendable resources in systems of care, they are overlooked, ill-prepared and poorly supported. We believe that caregivers should be cultivated, supported and celebrated. Investing community resources in educating and training caregivers, providing them a wide range of supports including respite, and celebrating their achievements and lives results in a higher quality of care, healthier, more effective caregivers, and a better quality of life for the entire community."
