ARMED LOUISVILLE DRUG DEALER SENTENCED TO 11 YEARS
AND 3 MONTHS IN FEDERAL PRISON

David L. Huber, United States Attorney for the Western District of Kentucky, announced today that TIMOTHY JOHNSON, previously convicted of five felonies, age 23, of 2504 West Jefferson, Louisville, Kentucky, was sentenced to 11 years and 3 months for drug trafficking in cocaine, carrying a firearm while dealing drugs and possessing a firearm after having been convicted of felony offenses. Johnson was also sentenced to 5 years of supervised release following the completion of his 11 year and 3 month prison sentence. There is no parole in the federal judicial system.

On November 9, 2004, Johnson was in the back seat of an automobile in possession of approximately 2 grams of crack cocaine that he intended to distribute when stopped by Louisville Police at Peachtree and Ashland. Johnson was armed with a loaded .38 revolver that he was carrying to protect himself while he sold drugs. When police approached the automobile, they ordered Johnson to show his hands. Johnson failed to comply on several occasions. Police observed a firearm in Johnson’s waistband, removed it and arrested him.

Johnson has previously been convicted of the felony offenses of escape II, criminal mischief in the first degree, theft by unlawful taking over $300, fleeing or evading police in the first degree and receiving stolen property over $300 in Jefferson Circuit Court.

The case was prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney Brian Butler, and it was investigated by the Louisville Metro Police Department and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF).
