Explodes CORBIN, KY - Karl Stankovic, Special Agent in Charge of the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF), Louisville Field Division and Arson Investigator Steve Faulconer, Kentucky State Police (KSP), along with Assistant State Fire Marshal Jack Flowers, Kentucky State Fire Marshal's Office announced today that they have concluded the initial scene investigation of the fire and explosion that occurred at the CTA Acoustics Inc. plant in Corbin, Kentucky. The factory manufactures acoustical and thermal insulation products for the industrial and automotive industries. Investigators for ATF, KSP and the State Fire Marshal's Office have determined the fire and explosion originated in the vicinity of production line number five. Several potential ignition sources within the area have been identified. At this time, there is no evidence of criminal involvement related to the cause of the fire and explosion at the facility. The scene has been turned over to the West Knox Fire Department and the Division of Public Safety for Laurel County. The initial fire and explosion scene examination was conducted jointly by the Kentucky State Fire Marshal's Office, the Kentucky State Police and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives. ### |
