Cambodian Team Reaches Semi-Finals of International Legal Competition |

A team from the Royal University of Law and Economics reached the semi-finals of the International Client Counseling Competition, a prestigious international legal tournament held in the United States on April 1-4.

United States Launches $77 Million Health Program |

The United States introduced a five-year, $77 million program that will cover the breadth of U.S. health activities in Cambodia and support the Royal Government of Cambodia’s national health plan, Health Sector Plan 2008-2015.
This new program will complement and expand existing USAID programs on HIV, tuberculosis and other infectious diseases, bringing expected USAID support for Cambodia’s health sector to a total of (Full text - PDF, 64KB)

United States Marks World Tuberculosis Day |

The United States joined the Royal Government of Cambodia and its partners in commemorating World Tuberculosis Day on March 24, 2009. Although deaths from tuberculosis (TB) worldwide have declined since 1990, the disease continues to claim more than 1.6 million lives each year, making it one of the three leading causes of death in the world.
Cambodia is one of 22 high-burden TB countries. An estimated 64% of Cambodians are infected (Full text - PDF, 72KB)

United States Launches New Economic Growth Program |

The United States this week launched a four-year, $21 million program designed to alleviate poverty in Cambodia by promoting economic growth in rural areas, home to 90% of the country’s poor.
The Economic Growth program will work with farmers and small business owners to increase their revenue, thereby improving the living standards of their families. It will also help entrepreneurs advance their interests with the local and national government, (Full text - PDF, 37KB) |
