The Department of Oceanography has state-of-the-art laboratory facilities with sophisticated instrumentation in the 15 story Eller O&M Building and the Michel T. Halbouty Geosciences Building. Our faculty and students benefit from our partnership with Texas A&M’s coastal campus at Galveston and affiliations with several research centers. The Integrated Ocean Drilling Program is the largest ocean drilling program in the world. The Texas Sea Grant College Program is a state/federal partnership focused on practical coastal issues, and the Geochemical and Environmental Research Group is an applied oceanography research center.
