New York/New Jersey ATF Crime Gun Center

What the ATF CGC does:

  • Operates 24 hours, 7 days a week (excluding federal holidays).
  • Records and transfers daily firearm trace data to the National Tracing Center.
  • Conducts daily analysis of trace data to identify gun traffickers.
  • Disseminates investigative leads.
  • Coordinates with the HIDTA - RIC to identify armed drug traffickers and their sources of crime guns.
  • Answers questions about firearms.
  • Responds to crime scenes.

Every recovered crime gun is a piece of a larger puzzle. When fully tied together, the puzzle provides information about armed criminals and how they are acquiring their crime guns.

If a priority of your organization is to deny criminals access to firearms and imprison violent offenders, please consider including the Regional Crime Gun Center as part of your violence reduction strategy.

The entire project depends on a collaborative partnership between your agency and ATF.

Certain information surrounding recovered crime guns must be collected and analyzed.
