ACVFA Public Meeting: Discussions on Development and Humanitarian Aid Lessons and the Millennium Challenge Account

WASHINGTON, DC - The Advisory Committee on Voluntary Foreign Aid is holding a panel discussion on "Development and Humanitarian Aid Lessons in Post-Conflict and Reconstruction" followed by a discussion of the Millennium Challenge Account by CEO Paul Applegarth.

This panel discussion will encompass reconstruction experiences in Afghanistan, Angola, Bosnia, Kosovo, Mozambique, Sierra Leone, Sudan and Iraq. The panel members are:

Charles MacCormack (Moderator) Save the Children
Nancy Lindborg Mercy Corps
Jim Kunder U.S. Agency for International Development
Colonel Paul Hughes National Defense University
Frederick Barton Center for Strategic and International Studies
Ken Isaacs, ACVFA Member Samaritan's Purse
Argentina Matavel World Vision

Following this panel discussion, Frederick W. Schieck, Deputy Administrator, U.S. Agency for International Development will introduce Paul Applegarth, CEO, Millennium Challenge Corporation. Mr. Applegarth will be available for questions following his statements.

The Advisory Committee on Voluntary Foreign Aid (ACVFA) was established by Presidential directive after World War II to serve as a link between the U.S. Government and private voluntary organizations active in humanitarian assistance and development work overseas.
