Success

EPA recognizes deterioration of the quality of water in our distribution systems as an important public health concern. Research has improved the scientific foundation for identifying and assessing the risks associated with our aging water distribution systems. This research helps states, local authorities, and utilities by providing new information on how to improve the quality of water in these systems. In this way, EPA ensures the safety of water consumed by the millions of people in the United States who receive their water from public water utilities.
