Easter Seals Project ACTION Hosts Free Audio Conference People on the Move: Using All Transportation Options (ADA and beyond…) 2008-09 Distance Learning Series

ESPA has offered "People on the Move: Using All Transportation Options (ADA and Beyond...)" for several successful years as in-person training scheduled annually in five cities. Now, POTM is being extended to a much wider audience through incorporation into our distance learning formats of audio conferences and Webinars. There are nine programs in the series, which consists of free “train-the-trainer” sessions to increase accessible transportation in your community. There are nine programs in the 2008-09 series.
"Event 1: Traveling with Service Animals" featured Donna Smith, ESPA training manager, sharing basic information about service animals. She addressed the following:
1. The purpose of service animals 2. How to instruct others as to appropriate reactions to service animals 3. Facts under the Americans with Disabilities Act that pertain to service animals

About the presenter
Donna Smith has 28 years experience as a professional in the field of disability advocacy. Twenty-three of those years have been spent as a training and technical assistance specialist on disability-related laws and issues, including six years specifically devoted to transportation issues. Her areas of knowledge include human service transportation coordination, ADA rights and responsibilities, coalition building, the transit experience from the customer's perspective, the increasing role of technology in transportation access, and the accessible pedestrian environment.

Registration has concluded. Related information, including dial-in access, has been provided to registrants in a confirmation email. If you are joining the call, we encourage you to invite others in your organization to share your phone line if you have a speaker-phone capacity.
In order to give the presenter an opportunity to learn about the interests of participants, everyone is invited to email their areas of interest and/or questions one week prior to the conference to POTM@easterseals.com. Ms. Smith will review these comments and do her best to address these issues during the presentation. Please type “Service Animals” in the subject line and submit the questions no later than October 29, 2008. |
