ODMH Director Stephenson testifies before Senate
Director Sandra Stephenson appeared before the Ohio Senate Finance and Financial Institutions Subcommittee on April 30 to testify on House Bill 1, the State Operating Budget. Read her testimony on our Legislation page.

Links available to resources on H1N1 virus and pandemic flu
A National Public Health Emergency was issued by the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services on April 26 after cases of the H1N1 virus were identified. In the Emergency Preparedness section of this ODMH Web site, there are links to several online resources, to English and Somali version of an H1N1 fact sheet., and to information on the behavioral health effects of a possible pandemic influenza.

Childhood trauma affects mental and physical health in adulthood 
Every day, young people experience illnesses, accidents, abuse, neglect or violence. There is a strong relationship between childhood trauma and subsequent mental disorders. Becoming trauma-informed is the first step in helping children work through the emotional and physical challenges they face after a traumatic event. ODMH recently updated the document Call to Action: Reducing the Impact of Childhood Trauma in Ohio.
