Payment Calculation Base for 2008

Methodology

Section 411.500 of the Code of Federal Regulations defines the Title XVI payment calculation base for any year to mean—

In connection with a title XVI disability beneficiary (who is not concurrently a title II disability beneficiary), the average monthly payment of Supplemental Security Income (SSI) benefits based on disability payable under title XVI (excluding State supplementation) for months during the preceding calendar year to all beneficiaries who—
(i) Have attained age 18 but have not attained age 65;
(ii) Are not concurrent title II/title XVI beneficiaries; and
(iii) Are in current pay status for the month for which the payment is made.

The table below shows the number of beneficiaries and corresponding payment amounts for 2007, together with the resulting average amounts. The average amount per beneficiary for calendar year 2007 is the Title XVI payment calculation base for 2008.
