John Day Wild and Scenic River

Fees:  $5.00 per site, per day, $2 per extra vehicle. (Camping Fees Only)

This is angler country, nationally known for Smallmouth bass and steelhead. In spring or early summer, float the John Day Wild & Scenic River. Then stay awhile at one of BLM's three campgrounds, ideal for swimming or picnicking. The Muleshoe Campground features accessible facilities.

Directions:

To reach Service Creek: From Prineville, travel east on US 26 for 47 miles to Mitchell, then turn north on State Route 207 for 25 miles (driving time 1.5 hours). From Fossil, travel south on State Route 19 to Service Creek, turn south on State Route 207 for 1/2 mile (driving time 30 minutes).
