Improvement in Academic Programs, Faculty Development, and Acquisition of Equipment for Use in Strengthening Academic Programs. The project will enable the university to increase the use of modern technology based instruction such as the preparation of Smart Classrooms and video conferencing facilities. Faculty will be trained in modern teaching/learning instructional methods using technology and in the use of better assessment methods to detect at-risk students. Information access will be increased through the addition of hardware, software, and the construction of a fiber optic cable network on campus.

Gateways to Success for Latino Students. The college will have a mentoring program, which will help Latino students sustain progress by helping students who are struggling with lower levels. Learning Communities will be established for the "gatekeeper courses." The project will also provide funds for faculty development so that the teaching staff can become familiar with the learning styles of the expanding number of Latino students.

Increasing Academic Support Services. The project focuses on developing a coordinated and coherent plan for comprehensive academic support services: career planning, goal setting, expanded orientation, intensive counseling, strengthening of community support systems, bilingual education (English and Spanish) and faculty/staff development focus on diversity and cultural sensitivity.
Enhancing Alternative Instructional Delivery Systems. The project will incorporate alternative instructional technology delivery systems that will allow the students to complete academic courses via Internet, Interactive Video, and on-line courses. Faculty development will be provided to prepare instructional programs using new distance technology.

Building Foundations for Academic Success. ECC will develop a First Year Experience Program (FYE), a learning community with a network of learning services to support Hispanic students enrolling in their academic programs. Faculty training will be offered for addressing culturally based students needs.
Forming Partnerships with Hispanic Communities. The project will enable the college to develop partnerships with local Community Based Organizations and Hispanic business and community leaders. Personnel will develop linkages, conduct outreach activities and staff the bilingual hotline. Informational materials will be created and a phone and online hotline will be developed.

Improvement of Development Office. The grant will enable the CMPR to improve the infrastructure for grantsmanship and fundraising in coordination with a private foundation that will carry out fund raising. To ensure fiscal stability and self-sufficiency an endowment of $50,000.00 per year will be established.
Improvement in Library Collections and Services. CMPR will integrate technology in all of the courses with lab components for students. The card catalog material will be converted to automated system. The collections of books, tapes, and music scores required by accrediting agencies will be increased as well as the pianos available for skill development.

Development of Faculty Competencies in Technology to Improve Student Academic Outcomes by Creating a Technology-Mediated Learning Infrastructure. This project will develop faculty competencies in the use of technology including those required to implement new web-based, learner-centered modalities. It will concurrently create the telecommunications network for access and services. New competencies will be integrated into academic programs. Network development and growth will provide the platform for the new technology-infused learning modalities aimed at improving student learning outcomes.

Strengthening the Instructional Program and Student Support Services. The project will the enable the college to revitalized their developmental studies and core college-level courses integrating a computer-assisted instructional (CAI) and multi-media assisted instructional (MAI) method. A Teaching/Learning Lab will be established to pilot learning assistance strategies and a computer-based tracking system will be developed for timely intervention. The faculty and staff will be offered comprehensive training based on skills proven to be effective with at-risk students to integrate basic skill strategies, diversity, CAI, and MAI systems into curricula.

Acquisition of Equipment in Support of Unified Academic, Administrative and Student Services System. The project will enable the college to develop their technology capacity. This will allow students to use the computers for word processing, Internet access, e-mail, and on-line systems. Development workshops will be held to increase the number of faculty members using technology in their teaching, assignments and research. The registration system will be automated and key administrative officers will generate immediate data for use in planning.

From a Seamless Entry to a Learning Paradigm. The college will use a research-based systems approach to redesign the enrollment process. An integrated data management system will provide faculty and staff the access to the knowledge they need to help students and a "one stop shopping" information system will be built for students. Instructors will be trained to become true facilitators of learning.

Student Success at Central Arizona College. CAC will design a high-school-to-college bridge orientation program and a peer-mentor program for Bridge students. A web-based tutoring system will also be designed. Faculty/staff training in multiple intelligence, brain based learning and other techniques will be offered through a Faculty Academy.

Establishing a Community of Teachers and Learners to Promote Student Success for Latino and At- Risk Students. The college will create multi-media Teaching Learning Center to support learning communities and will also create Smart Classrooms that will allow faculty to infuse the benefits of technology directly into PCC's programs college wide. The project provides for the creation of learning communities. It includes faculty development and curriculum development activities.

Increasing Community Access and Student Retention through Improved Enrollment Management and Hispanic Student Leadership Development. SFCC will provide Internet support admissions, registration, advising, database management, and transfer functions. They will also create a Hispanic student leadership corps as basis of a targeted learning community development.
Increasing Student Achievement/Retention through Hispanic Teacher Training and Learning Community Development. The project will enable the college to create an Associate of Arts degree in education and a coordinated partnership with the Santa Fe Public Schools and four-year universities.
Improving Hispanic Student Achievement and Completion through Faculty and Staff Development. The college will implement a Faculty and Staff Resource Center (FSRC) to improve faculty preparation in adult learning theory and practice and cultural competence. It will also improve staff's skills and behaviors that can contribute to social adjustments and academic achievement for students.

Centralization and Technological Enhancement of Student Services. The college will develop computerized advising and registration materials for students access. It will also develop and implement centralized counseling and tracking.
Creation of Self-Paced Developmental Courses and Developmental Resource Center. The project will enable the college to computerize course materials; provide release time for faculty developing curriculum and implementing and evaluating program. New faculty will be trained in open-entry, open-exit course delivery.
Strengthening Resources for Institutional Effectiveness. The college will create an Effectiveness Resource Center and its faculty and administrators will participate in professional development. They will also be offered Success Grants for faculty innovation.

The Academic and Advising Support Services Center. TAMU-CC will develop the Comprehensive Student Information, Early Warning and Intervention System, the Academic Advising and Career Development Support Services, and the Instructional Support Services. These will increase the identification of non-traditional students and their participation in advising learning communities. The aim is to increase the retention rate of Hispanics in gatekeeper and barrier courses.
Faculty Development in Advising and Instructional Strategies. TAMU-CC will provide faculty training in advising skills, technology skills, and non-traditional and innovative pedagogies and methodologies sensitive to the culture of the predominantly Hispanic non-traditional population. The training includes a cycle of workshops, teleconferences, seminars, and faculty sponsored and organized symposiums on campus for exchange of ideas between TAMU-CC faculty and other faculty in colleges and universities in the area.

Equipment Acquisition. NMHU will acquire equipment in order to increase its capacity to deliver courses via distance learning systems oriented to rural, Hispanics, often homebound and economically disadvantaged. Thus the number of Hispanics students receiving an education will increase.
Professional Development. Its purpose is to increase the quality of full-time and adjunct faculty knowledge and competency in telecommunications technologies and related curriculum development.

Strengthening Programs for Student Success (Support and Retention Programs). The project will enable the college to develop and implement student support activities in the form of a new Student Success curriculum, enhanced advising services, supplemental instruction, mentoring, and learning assistance centers.
Strengthening Outreach of Hispanic Populations (Outreach and Orientation Programs). TSTC Harlingen will provide crucial outreach activities to nine local schools districts (for secondary students and their parents) and to Texas Workforce Centers' clients. The acquisition of new equipment and minor remodeling will assist in streamlining enrollment services.

"SUBE" Fast Track, Transfer Academies and College Advancement. Rio Hondo College will provide transfer readiness with comprehensive scaffolding through a two-year prescriptive, fast track program. Ten on-line courses will be developed; students will have access to laptops in their renovated and equipped Open Lab. The college will narrow prerequisites, reduce barriers, and align curriculum. The academic requirements will be accessible in its Web site. Faculty and staff will increase their skills in grant development, public and private.

Developing Capabilities for Distance Learning: Academic Instruction throughout the Undergraduate and Graduate Curriculum. The project will enable the college to introduce a Distance Education Model at the undergraduate and graduate levels. Professional and technical staff will be hired to support faculty engaged in the DE course revision/creation and production of courseware. USH will develop and improve the institutional technological infrastructure.

Academic Program for Workforce Development. The project will enable them to create three new science laboratories, a Workforce Development Center for employer contract training, and to improve its Nursing Program. The college will build a Teacher Resource Center for Teacher Preparation and will rebuild aging Business Occupations computer laboratories.
Institutional Effectiveness. The college will develop a system to ensure accountability for all institutional practices.
Endowment Challenge Match. This will support the College's Scholarship Endowment Fund to provide scholarships for Northern students.

Increasing Retention, Improving Student Success. The College will establish a Center for Excellence in Learning and Teaching (CELT) to coordinate faculty development to support curricular innovations. Student services programs will be restructured to support academic success bridging the traditional gap between them. Also an automated early Alert/At-Risk Referral Systems will be used. Faculty and students will engage in an outreach effort to K-12 to raise awareness of the benefits of a college education and pre-college coursework to ensure success.

Enhancement of Graphics Arts Education through Academic Program Expansion and Acquisition of Equipment. Through the project the college will be able to provide electronically designed reference material and resources for faculty and students. To increase the amount of low-income students having access to graduate education and training, ACICS will expand its graduate programs, apply innovative technology and distance education. Classrooms connected to on-line systems will improve academic performance.

Increasing Retention and Graduation of Hispanic Students. The College main focus is to increase the retention and graduation of Hispanic students. It will improve the campus Integrated Information Data System providing access to information technology students, faculty, and staff.
Improving Technology Competence of Graduates. Heritage College will work to improve the technology competence of graduates and faculty and improve the integration of technology across the curriculum. The college will develop a new information-based computer system that links student information with a new integrated management information system and will develop a new technology strategy by hiring an educational technologist and equipping classrooms with software, wiring and Internet access.

Expand the Use of Technology to Improve Academic Programs. The college will include the intensive use of technology in the curriculum by developing a Web-site for universal access and distance learning and will strengthen the Learning Resource Center. To effectively use technological tools and the Internet the faculty development training will be offered.
Strengthening Institutional Advancement, Establishing a Fund-Raising Initiative, and Creating an Endowment Fund with Title V Matching. The college will develop assessment and research components and will improve academic and student services through the technological infrastructure.
Improving Student Support Services. The project will enable EAP to establish art production workshops to provide income and self-employment skills and a Guidance Center.

Improvement of Academic Competencies. The project will enable the college to pilot a newly-designed, service-rich developmental semester that is centered around the development of a five skills competencies the college requires for graduation. Faculty, assisted by a Portfolio Coordinator, will develop and pilot an electronic portfolio program and will also develop and use assessment portfolio standards and procedures to evaluate students' portfolios.

Increasing Student Retention and Success through Learning Communities. The college will develop Clustered and Pair Courses in Learning Communities, a student tracking system, and an early-warning and- early-alert system. It will create MERLIN Labs (Math-English-Reading Learning Innovation Network).
Increasing Student Retention and Success through Faculty and Staff Development. The faculty will be offered workshops on Learning Communities methodology, cultural sensitivity, instructional technology, and student information management systems.
Increasing Student Retention and Success through Information Management. The project will enable the college to develop student information and financial aid management systems.

Establishing a Virtual Campus for On-line Students Services. The project will enable the college to transform the delivery of students support services through the use of technology.
Improving the College Preparation Program. CBC will restructure curriculum, employ appropriate technology to facilitate learning, and will establish learning communities. Opportunities for updated training for developmental instructors will be provided.
Establishing of an Institutional Advancement Office. The college will create the Coastal Bend Foundation and it will organize an alumni association as a way to seek additional sources of funding.

Improve Administrative Support for Student and Faculty Affairs. The project will help in the construction and equipping of a "smart building." Training for administrators and faculty will be offered. This will improve administrative programs that support student's services, faculty management, and institutional research.
Creating a Technology-Based, Teaching/Learning Support Facility for Students and Faculty. The college will create an Internet-capable computer center for training of students and faculty, conduct a "training trainers" project, and design and execute pilot projects for supporting the use of technology in learning.

A Fully Interactive State-of-the-art Website for Institutional Management. The college will change its current "static website" into a dynamic website with a full time web master to provide adequate support for improved administrative and academic activities.
Strengthening the Curriculum by Building Models Using New Paradigms, New Pedagogies, and New Technologies. A variety of curriculum improvements projects will be undertaken to establish models for ongoing curriculum development. It will also include projects to assist students plan their academic careers more effectively and follow through those plans.
A Student Academic Skills Development Center. A center will be located in the library with 30 computers with Internet access and a virtual classroom will be created to complement it. This will provide multiple support for the use of technology for academic purposes.

Growth and Development of Entering Students Seminar. UTEP will strengthen its Entering Student Program by creating an instructional team formed by well-trained faculty, professional staff, and undergraduate students Peer Instructors.

Academic Improvement through Active Learning, Computer Assisted Instruction, and Multimedia Classrooms. The project will enable NMSU to increase student success through active learning and technology-assisted instruction by strengthening the classroom technological infrastructure and development of new curricula.
Developing Faculty Use of Electronic Teaching Technologies. The college will offer comprehensive faculty development workshops on teaching technology and faculty will pilot courses integrating technology.

Faculty Development for the Improvement of Achievement, Retention and Graduation Using the Internet as Assisting Tools. The project will enable the university to increase the competency of faculty members in the design and the development of learning-centered and computer and Internet enhanced courses through an intensive and extensive faculty and course development plan.

Improvement of Academic Outcomes. This grant will enable the university to get involved in faculty professional development to support instructional and curricular innovation. NJCU will develop a Summer Bridge Program, and will implement a First Year Experience Model that uses learning communities to teach academic thinking.
Improvement of Academic Programs by Establishing a Center for Instructional and Technological Innovation. The center will increase the capacity of the faculty to foster instructional innovation via instructional technology. It will lead to significant increases in retention of academically at-risk students and in the number of students who are provided support services and learning assistance.

Academic and Resources Development. HCC will create five new associate degree programs and will renovate an existing laboratory facility for simulated work experiences as part of the curriculum to improve the opportunities of its students.
Improving the Educational Resource Center's Collections and Services. To improve access of students to modern library and learning resources the project will provide additional computers connected to the On-line Library of Congress and an Internet Laboratory connected to a server for use by students.

Faculty, Staff and Program Development. Workshop training in new instructional methodologies in the classroom will be offered to their current and new faculty and staff to increase retention and academic achievement rates and to increase college-going rates of Chicago Public School students and the number of students who transition into Degree/Certificate programs.
Strengthening Student Services and Management Systems. The project will enable the college to reorganize and relocate the administrative structure of student services for enhance visibility. All student service staff will receive cross training on comprehensive student services. Faculty members will participate in a Student Success Institute.

A Student Outreach System: Transforming Academic Programs and Student Services for Underrepresented Students. NMSU-C will improve the student and adviser access to the computer-based information system on the main campus. The university will re-engineer the curriculum and instructional process to address the students' diverse learning styles and need for learning assistance that is interactive, self-paced, and sensitive to students' multicultural interests and learning patterns.

Improving Students Services: Enhancing and Targeting Services for Hispanic and Low-Income Students. The project will enable the college to establish: a counseling outreach program, a student and family video orientation, and a computer-assisted tracking system. It will increase access for students to appropriate college textbooks and library materials.
Improving Academic Programs: Improving Instructional Systems and Methodologies. The college will acquire and apply new technologies to improve students success and retention. It will design and pilot test improvements in academic programs and learning support systems.
Strengthening the Development Office: Improving Fiscal Year Stability through Institutional Advancement. Merced College will develop a multi-purpose institutional advancement program that will address the need for funds development capability and strong linkages between the college and a changing community.

Fully Interactive State-of-the-Art Website. The university will develop a prototype website and will integrate it with main institutional information systems. It will also offer the first Continued Education on-line course. Students and faculty will be offered training on the use of Distant Education tools.
An Academic Skills Support Center. CAU will establish a computer center, research laboratory, and virtual classrooms. Training in the use of advance computer research programs, library based research, teaching skills and clinical skill development will be offered for faculty and students.

Strengthening Academic Programs. The college will develop a Fine Arts and a Biological Sciences computer labs that will include infrastructure improvements. Its aim is to improve the enrollment and retention rates and to better prepare their students for transfer and the workforce.
Faculty Development and Student Services for Success. A Center for Advancement of Learning will be developed. This Center will coordinate faculty development efforts to increase preparation for using technology enhanced instruction and will provide services for the students such as success seminars, mentoring, coordination of service placement, and developing collaborative learning teams. It will also assess community needs and develop a new college/community connection.

Improving Hispanic, Low-Income and First-Generation Student Retention, Graduation and Transfer. CCD will create Learning Communities and will provide faculty development in learning community theory and methodology. It will bring together Educational Case Managers, Program Coordinators, faculty, and Students Ambassadors within the academic centers through Educational Case Management (ECM) Teams. CCD will provide professional development, a Cultural Competency Program, and a Multicultural Resource Center. The grant will also enable the college to create computer technology resources such as three computerized classrooms for the full integration of curriculum, instruction and state-of-the-art technology. A learner-tracking database to improve academic retention strategies will also be created.

Improving success by Integrating Technology into Learning Assistance and Classroom Instruction. The project will enable the college to strategically infuse technology into the instruction of their developmental classes and the College's Learning Center. An additional learning assistance center will be created at a satellite site. Faculty will be trained to integrate computer technology into their teaching and three multi-purpose computer classrooms will be installed on campus.

The project will enable the college to incorporate significant technology and infrastructure upgrading. These changes will position the college to deliver the educational opportunities and curricula that are necessary in this age for success in modern university environment and in the 21st Century workplace.

Strategies to Improve Enrollment, Retention, Student Learning Success and Access to Technology. The college will establish a "Master Student" program. Counseling and classes using both synchronous and asynchronous electronics tools will be available. Faculty will be given incentives and tools to meet the needs of the Learning Community cohorts in order to make technology more "human" and less "tool."

Transforming Teacher Education Programs. SRSU will restructure courses and provide field-based classroom experience. Professional development workshops will be offered in content areas. Integration of technology into the teaching/learning process, teaching strategies that acknowledge and support diversity, and a state-of-the-art bicultural mentoring program will also be part of the curriculum improvement strategies.
Transforming Advisement Systems for Hispanic and At-Risk Students. The project will enable SRSU to develop a Student Information System to assess the progress of students and to track learner outcomes. Through developmental advising and intervention strategies, the university will strengthen its capacity to retain students.

Expand Sustainable Academic Support Services to Targeted Students to Improve Academic Success. The university will develop a comprehensive writing/language development program, a junior writing program, study skills as a supplemental instructor series, an on-line interactive tutorials, and community-based access.
Create a Sustainable Mentoring Program to Improve Student Learning, Retention, and Graduation. The project will enable the university to create the faculty and mentoring program. It will also develop a comprehensive mentoring training program for faculty and staff mentors for all academic majors.

College Transformation: Increasing Student Success and Reducing Barriers. The college will offer faculty professional development and student training. A computer-mediated, self-paced support program will be added to the College Learning Center and an Online Career System will make counseling and advisement more timely and accessible to students.

Instructional Technology. The university will bring the Teaching, Learning, and Technology Center (TLTC) on line providing support and assistance to faculty members. It will also revise courses with effective instructional technology components.
Web-Based Support Systems. The project will bring on-line a project imaging system allowing Enrollment Management records to be imaged, archived, and access through computer-based imaging.

Transforming Occupational /Technical Training for the New Millennium. The college will create learning communities in four occupational/technical programs and will also create a learning community for liberal arts, transfer-oriented students. The faculty will be offered training to improve their instructional delivery methods.

Transforming the Institutional Climate for Student Success: An Integrated Approach to Strengthening Academic Programs, Students Services, and Information Management. The project will enable ENMU-Roswell to revitalize faculty/staff development to increase their access and use of technology that support measurement of student outcomes and institutional effectiveness. It will also enable the university to transform instruction and learning assistance, redesigning the matriculation process and strengthening the Information System. This integrated system is called Transformed Climate for Student Success (TCSS).

Transforming Instructional Program and Student Support Services for Hispanic and Low-Income Population. The project will enable Student Services Staff and Advisors to incorporate intrusive advising and retention strategies. Faculty will incorporate instructional technology into their courses and learning strategies such as collaborative learning and cultural diversity. Faculty/staff training will be offered.

Faculty Development for the Improvement of Student Outcomes. The university faculty will create curriculum modifications based on student/learner centered pedagogy and learning technology. The project includes the construction costs of the Faculty Development Center and its equipment and supplies.

Improving Student Success through Instructional Development. The project will enable the college to create a "high-tech - high touch " learning through "smart classrooms" and to develop an information access course for new students. Faculty will be offered training and support in the acquisition, development, and use of alternative teaching/learning strategies and multi-mediated instructional tools.
Improving Administrative Effectiveness through Management Information System Development. CMSV will implement and use the Computer Management and Development Services, Inc. (CMDS) and will create a one-stop shopping center.

Closing Institutional Gaps Which Affect the Success of Hispanic Students. The project will enable the college to focus on academic development integrated with technology-based culturally-sensitive learning support and to develop a student tracking system, an early warning system, and a learning outcomes assessment program. The college will also increase its endowment fund in order to support the institutionalization of the project.

Develop New Academic Programs (lower division Bachelor's and Bachelor's Elementary Education) to Meet Student and Societal Needs with a Student/Mentor Program. The university will provide additional library support services, staff and faculty development, and evaluation workshops for county teachers. A pilot teaching education model will be developed and implemented. The university will also develop a National Resource Center.

Increasing Hispanic Student Success: Critical Intervention Strategies to Open Blocked Gateway Courses. Among the strategies planned the college has included experiential service learning, a One-Stop Tutorial Center, on-line support services in instructional technology, faculty/staff development, a faculty/staff/student mentor program, and the establishment of an electronic kiosk networked with feeder high schools.

Improving Teaching and Learning through the Integration of Technology. The university will provide student access to instructional technology and information literacy resources. It will update the equipment in job training programs and increase its instructional computing capacity. Faculty will be offered training in the use of technology in instruction.

Increasing Hispanic Student Success in Developmental and Transfer Programs. The college will pilot and implement a Train-the-Trainers Program and will design an expansion of the Enlace Program. Summer Bridge Programs will be developed. EVC will implement a Technology Instructional Program and a Faculty Instructional Improvement Program will be planned, designed, and implemented.

Maximizing Success for Hispanic and Other Low-Income Students. The college will focus in faculty development in the use of technology applications, in diverse learning styles, and in competency-based approaches to instruction and assessment. The students will receive supplemental instruction and tutoring. An early alert system and a system of "academic case management" will provide close monitoring and effective intervention for at-risk students.

Student Success Center. DABCC will develop a one-stop shop approach to provide quality services to entering students; and on-going academic and career advising, tutoring and mentoring support to continuing students.
Faculty/Staff Development. The faculty and the staff will participate in professional development training focus on student retention and student success initiatives.
Joint-Use Community Library. The project will enable them to develop joint use community libraries for the college's satellite centers. The model used will be made available to other colleges.
Program Review and Institutional Effectiveness. Through the project DABCC will link planning, resource allocation, and implementation and evaluation to monitor their effectiveness as they make the needed improvements.

Basic Academic and Service Bridges to Educational Attainment for Latino Students. The college will develop a computer-assisted instruction (CAI) lab. Student services will be strengthened through improved and culturally appropriate assessment, admissions, financial aid assistance, counseling and support, career placement, and the development of a peer-tutoring program. Faculty will develop program specific bridge courses.

Strengthening Access and Educational Preparedness. The project will enable the college to redesign Pre-Transfer Math Curriculum including modular computer competency courses and to create a comprehensive tutorial program. It will strengthen its infrastructure.
Strengthening Transfer and Career Preparedness. Faculty will redesign the Engineering Program; a classroom/lab will be created in conjunction with the curriculum changes. A Math and Science Study Center will also be developed.

"Braking the Science Barrier." The college will construct and equip the Science Learning Center in which it will apply strategies to enhance the cognitive and analytical skills of identified at-risk students. This center will provide space for the development of interactive science learning modules.

Significantly Improved Access and Success for Hispanic and other Underserved, Underprepared Students through Institutional Transformation. OC will establish learning communities and increase the use of new instructional methods, technology, revised curricula, and classroom-based assessment by its faculty. It will create an endowment fund and a Resource Development Program.

Increasing Student Success in Gateway Basic Skills Courses. This activity includes: alternative curriculum pathways and emphasis on active learning, training faculty to identify barriers, select effective teaching methods and assess student learning outcomes, and improving the articulation with local K-12 districts to improve entry-level basic skills.
Providing Support to Low-Income, High-Risk and Hispanic Students. The college will focus on collaborative efforts with COD faculty and high school faculty and counselors to develop a learning communities model and to enhance financial aid, career development, and transfer opportunities of students.

Academic Improvements: Modernizing the Curriculum to Meet the Needs of the Students and the Community Served by the Technological College of San Juan. The College will focus in the use of technology for educational improvement and in faculty training to develop expertise in the use of technologies for learning. The project includes the creation of a Faculty Development Center.
Supporting a Paradigm Shift in the Administration of the CTSJ - Building a Strong Autonomous Institution. The project will enable the college to integrate technology, a central feature of this activity will be the upgrading of the website. The administrative personnel will be offered training in the effective use of technology to promote proactive management.

Application of Information Technology to Enhance Core Competencies. The university will provide its faculty and staff technological training and support to develop online course materials and strategies to assist students in their basic skills.
Freshmen Academic Support Program. The students will benefit from full academic counseling, advisement, and personal counseling programs provided through a six-step IAUPR-Aguadilla Campus Development Model.

Improvement of Instruction. The project addresses the need to increase student retention and success creating an Instructional Innovation Center to train the faculty to develop and use technology enhanced delivery of instruction and to develop and implement successful innovative teaching techniques.
Developing Learning Communities. The project will enable the college to provide improved student support services to on-campus and distance learning students by developing Learning Communities across the college and by the expansion of student assessment and orientation.

Improving Retention through Career-Based Learning Community. The grant will enable the college to design and implement nine career-based learning communities. The college will inaugurate a Freshmen Service Center to integrate a team-based set of services and the faculty will be trained in interactive, multimediated instructional strategies.

UHD Learners' Community: An Academic and Support Services Initiative for Hispanic and Other Low-Income, First-Time-In-College Students. UHD will create a Learners' Community to increase the retention and graduation rates of first-time-in-college (FTIC) freshmen. It will also provide professional development workshops and seminars to address instructional strategies and incorporation of technology in teaching practices.

An Approach to Strengthening Student Services and Academic Programs. The project will enable TVI to create an integrated student support system and a database that tracks students from designated high school programs through TVI and on to four-year institution. Faculty and staff development will be provided. Funds will also be used for an endowment to provide scholarships, books, and necessary tools or equipment for students.
