Understanding the GSA Schedules Process
Organization Name: Georgia Tech Procurement Assistance Center
Location: Classes offered across the state of Georgia. See details below. Pre-registration is required via URL shown below.

This class addresses many of the challenges businesses face when deciding whether they should seek a GSA Schedule contract. Topics include: an overview of GSA's mission; the federal government's various "purchasing vehicles"; why federal agencies use (and don’t use) GSA Schedules; the pros and cons of GSA Schedule contracts; and preparing a proposal to obtain a Schedule. The presenter will discuss issues businesses should consider before taking the “Schedules plunge.”

Although GSA Schedules cover a number of commodities and services, they do not cover everything the government purchases. Therefore, prior to attending this seminar, it is important that you determine if there is a GSA Schedule covering your product or service. To find out, go to www.gsa.gov and click on “GSA Schedules.” On the right side of the next page that appears, click on "Schedules e-Library" and insert a word or two describing your product or service in the search engine. (If the search determines that your product or service is not covered by a Schedule, attending this seminar will not be beneficial for you.)

If you find a Schedule that does apply to your line of business, you should obtain a copy of the Schedule solicitation and review it prior to attending the seminar. You can do this by again accessing www.gsa.gov. On the right hand side of the page, click on “GSA Schedules.” On the left hand side of the next page that appears, click on “For Vendors-Getting on a Schedule.” Then, click “GSA Schedule Solicitations” on the left side of the following page. Locate the solicitation you are seeking and download it to your computer. Review it and make note of questions you may wish to ask in class.

Many prime contractors continuously seek good small business suppliers to meet their needs and satisfy the requirements of their government subcontracting plans. You may have just what they are looking for and should consider attending this seminar.
