American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009

March 4, 2009 -- NIH is scheduled to receive $10 billion to be used in Fiscal Years 2009 and 2010 from funds appropriated through the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009. Some of these funds will be used to support the NIH Challenge Grants in Health and Science Research initiative. The solicitation includes several areas of interest to NIA. Applications are due by April 27, 2009.  

Priorities & Program Divisions

Information and helpful resources for research programs supported by NIA, including studies on the mechanisms of aging, the processes of aging, aging and the nervous system, aging in relation to health and disease and international research.  

NIA New Investigators

R01 applications from new investigators will be considered among NIA's highest priorities in the use of discretionary funds to make awards selectively.  

Research Training and Career Award Support

Mechanisms e.g., Fellowships (Fs), Training Grants (Ts), Career Development Awards(Ks), Loan Repayments (Ls) etc, supporting research conducted by students, postdoctoral researchers, and clinician scientists. Descriptions about the grants and awards NIA offers are listed. Opportunities for training to diversify the research workforce are also listed.
