Call for Gender Photos

Graphic showing four different images of individual women and reading "Call for photos. Please share your photos with us! We are looking for great images of women involved in and benefiting from USAID-funded gender activities."

USAID's Office of Women in Development is seeking high quality photos of women involved in and benefiting from USAID-supported projects.

We gratefully welcome images from anyone who is willing to share their good work with us, including USAID implementing partners, other development organizations, and the general public.

Please note that by submitting images to us, you are stating that you have copyright permission over these images and are allowing us free and fair use of the images. You will receive proper credit any time your photo appears in print or online.

Please send us your images as .jpg, .bmp, or .gif files, and please maintain at least a 300 dpi (dots per inch) resolution. We request that digital photos be shot with at least a 3-megapixel resolution camera.

How to Send in Your Photos

You can share your photos with us in two ways:

1. If you are a USAID contractor or implementing partner:

Create a CD-ROM containing the images and deliver them to your CTO. Please make sure that the images contain the information asked for at http://java.usaid.gov/usaid/jsp/photo_and_caption.jsp, but, at a minimum, please include:

Date taken (year/month is fine)
Place taken (city, country)
Appropriate caption
Alternative tag (i.e., how to describe the image in words)
Name of USAID-funded project
Credit (Photographer/organization)

2. If you are not a USAID contractor or implementing partner:

Visit http://java.usaid.gov/usaid/jsp/photo_and_caption.jsp and complete the form. Please make sure you put "WID" in the field called USAID Program. This way, we will be able to distinguish your photos from other submissions.

Your Photos Are a Valued Resource

We greatly appreciate your willingness to share your photos with us!

Your work will help us to educate the public about USAID's gender programs and demonstrate the impact USAID is having on women's lives around the world. With this in mind, please be reminded that we are interested in quality photos showing women involved in and benefiting from USAID-supported projects.

If you have any questions, please contact Ed Lijewski, USAID/WID, at elijewski@usaid.gov.
