Get Your Hearing Checked

Page:  1  2

The Basics

Get checked for hearing loss if you are over 65 years old. Hearing loss is one of the most common conditions affecting older adults. Many people lose their hearing slowly as they age.

  • One out of three (1 in 3) Americans age 65-74 has a hearing problem.
  • Half of adults (1 in 2) over age 75 have a hearing problem.

Start by seeing a doctor. Ask about a hearing test. Your doctor may refer you to a hearing specialist.

Hearing Problems are Serious
Hearing loss can be frustrating and even dangerous. At the doctor’s office, you may not understand the doctor’s words. You may have trouble hearing doorbells and alarms.

Start Today: Small Steps
