Ethiopia

Map of Africa with Ethiopia highlighted

In Ethiopia, USAID implements the U.S. President’s Emergency Plan for AIDS Relief and the President’s Malaria Initiative and supports national level advocacy and policy in reproductive health, family planning, and contraceptive security, and the expansion of services to urban and remote, hard-to-reach rural populations. USAID also supports community efforts to improve nutrition for women and children through vitamin A, iodine, and iron supplementation and supports the reduction of harmful traditional practices such as female genital mutilation/cutting, rape, abduction, early marriage, and wife inheritance.
