Non-Energy Leasables

Sand and Gravel operation in Las Vagas (Chris Ross Photo)

Non Energy Leasables consist of Phosphate, Sodium, Potassium,Sulphur, Gilsonite, and Hardrock Minerals (on Acquired Lands.)  The basic process starts with a prospecting permit that allows surface disturbance to determine if a valuable mineral exists.  The Preference Right Lease is issued to holders of Prospecting Permits that demonstrated discovery of a valuable commodity during the term of the permit.

Answers to Non Energy Leasable questions can be found by refering to the Code of Federal Regulations 43 CFR 3500, or by calling the Division of Minerals, at the Nevada State Office.
