Ohio Department of Aging National Family Caregiver Support Program

Caregiving can be rewarding, yet physically and emotionally stressful. The National Family Caregiver Support Program, funds information and referral, training, counseling, support groups, respite and other supplemental services for caregivers. Through the program the aging network offers many resources and services for caregivers and the folks for which they care.

Services vary by region and may include:

  • Care support from home health aides and nurses
  • Help with shopping, cooking and cleaning
  • Home modification, maintenance and repair
  • Chore services
  • Friendly visitors to sit with the care recipient
  • Home delivered meals
  • Nutrition Consultation
  • Professional care management
  • Transportation to doctors' appointments and essential services
  • Activities and supervision through adult day services
  • Support and socialization at senior citizen centers
  • Daily check-in phone calls for reassurance and support
  • Support groups
  • Home medical equipment and devices to make caregiving tasks easier and safer
  • Legal and financial assistance
