President Bush Meets with Russia’s NGO Leaders
As part of a trip to Moscow to participate in events marking the sixtieth anniversary of victory day on May 9, 2005, President Bush met with civic leaders from 18 non-governmental organizations (NGOs) representing the full spectrum of civil society, from human rights to healthcare. USAID/Russia was responsible for organizing the event, which gave President Bush, Secretary Rice and other members of the U.S. official delegation a chance to learn first-hand about how Russian NGOs are addressing community support, civil society development, social services and human rights issues.
