EAC Chairman to Address Virginia Election Officials
"Will We Be Ready for November 2004?"

U.S. Election Assistance Commission (EAC) Chairman DeForest B. Soaries, Jr. will speak to Virginia election officials this Wednesday, May 19, 2004 at 12:15 PM. Chairman Soaries is scheduled to deliver a keynote address to the Virginia State Board of Election's Annual Training for Registrars and Electoral Board Members.
Soaries will announce the steps the EAC will take to help local election officials prepare for the November presidential election. Topics to be addressed will be security, poll worker training and voter eduation.
The event will take place at the Holiday Inn Koger South Conference Center at 1021 Koger Center Boulevard in Richmond, Virginia.

*The U.S. Election Assistance Commission was created by the Help America Vote Act of 2002 (HAVA). The Commission is charged with administering voluntary guidelines for election requirements under HAVA, maintaining a clearinghouse of information regarding election administration procedures including testing and certification of election equipment, and administering the Election Assistance and Help America Vote Programs.
