The Sexuality Information and Education Council of the U.S. (SIECUS) is a national, private, nonprofit advocacy organization which affirms that sexuality is a natural part of living. Incorporated in 1964, SEICUS develops, collects, and disseminates information, promotes comprehensive education about sexuality, and advocates the right of individuals to make responsible sexual choices. The SIECUS Mary S. Calderone Library (non-circulating) includes over 5,000 books, 750 curricula, 200 periodicals, assorted pamphlets, and vertical files from 1964.
SIECUS publishes annotated bibliographies and fact sheets on diverse areas of human sexuality for professionals and the general public. A special publication for parents of young children is available in Spanish and English. Serial publication: SIECUS Report (journal), bimonthly--covers the latest research findings, services, events, and developments in areas relating to sexuality, plus reviews of books and audiovisual resources. Special bibliographies are included in alternate volumes.
