Description

The Learning Disabilities Association of America (LDA), formerly the Association for Children and Adults with Learning Disabilities (ACLD), was founded in 1964 as a national, nonprofit organization of parents and professionals serving the needs of individuals with learning disabilities. The Association seeks to increase public awareness about the learning disabled and promotes research, treatment, education, and employment. LDA monitors legislative developments. It refers people to sources of information and assistance, serves as an advocacy group, provides various publications, sponsors an annual international conference, and operates a library resource center; the resource library has over 500 publications available for mail order. The Association has more than 500 state and local chapters.
