Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP)
- The 2008 Farm Bill renamed the U.S. Department of Agriculture's Food Stamp Program, the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) beginning October 1, 2008.
- The U.S. Department of Agriculture's Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program is intended to help low-income Americans meet their nutritional needs.
- The N.D. Department of Human Services issues about $4.9 million in food assistance benefits each month to state residents.
- Each month, an average of about 21,630 households in N.D. receive food assistance benefits, and 43 percent of those households had earned income.

To apply for Supplemental Nutrition Assistance, complete the Application for Assistance and/or contact your local County Social Service Office.
