Consolidated Forensic Lab Contract. Mayor Adrian M. Fenty announced that the District has selected Whiting-Turner for a $133 million contract to build the Consolidated Forensic Laboratory (CFL) that will house a number of public health and safety functions within the same facility. End Homelessness. Mayor Adrian M. Fenty joined US Senators Jack Reed (D-RI) and Kit Bond (R-MO) to push for passage of their bipartisan plan to help communities reduce homelessness nationwide. Mayor Fenty celebrates with the staff of the Big Bear Cafe in Bloomingdale. Big Bear was one of 19 winners of the first-annual Mayor's Environmental Excellence Awards. Corporations and nonprofits from across the District were recognized for their contributions to a more sustainable city. Read More
New DPR Director Hubbard Place
Mayor Adrian M. Fenty and Councilmember Jim Graham (Ward 1) joined city officials, developers and community members for a ribbon-cutting ceremony to celebrate the recently completed renovation of the Hubbard Place Apartments. Hubbard Place is a mixed-use facility, operated by the Latin American Youth Center (LAYC), that includes 230 units of affordable housing, two businesses and a job readiness program for out-of-school youth ages 16 to 24.
