AmeriCorps team helps repair fire-damaged W.Va. fort

March 13, 2009 @ 09:02 AM

POINT PLEASANT, W.Va. (AP) — An AmeriCorps team is helping to repair a log-cabin tavern at a restored Revolutionary War fort in Point Pleasant that was damaged by a fire.

Team members spent most of this week removing the tavern’s roof and floor. They also did maintenance work, including draining wet spots at Fort Randolph.

The Feb. 23 fire at the fort in Krodel Park caused an estimated $40,000 in damage. Fire officials ruled the blaze an arson and it remains under investigation.
