    Prepare for Swine Flu

    The American Red Cross is monitoring the developing situation with this new strain of human swine flu and is in close contact with federal and state officials, including the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and the Department of Homeland Security.

    As health experts across the world seek to get more information and a better understanding of the scope and severity of the swine flu outbreak, this is a good time for families, businesses and organizations to review and update their preparedness plans. USE THE ATTACHMENT TO REVIEW THE MANY WAYS TO BE PREPARED AND PREVENT THE FLU FROM SPREADING.

    The Red Cross responded to a barn fire Saturday evening around 6:30pm on 1200 south near Romney. We provided rehab to approximately 20 firefighters.

    Disaster Recovery Centers Open

    INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. – Three Disaster Recovery Centers will be open Monday - Saturday to serve residents and business owners who sustained losses or damage as a result of the severe storms and flooding March 8 - 14, according to state and federal disaster officials.

    The three fixed DRC locations, hours Monday – Saturday, 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. are:

    Utility Complex

    First Annual Community HERO Award given to LPD Officer Nicholas Amor

    [Lafayette, IN; March 28, 2009] – The 350 Area Association of Businesses along with the Tippecanoe County Chapter of the American Red Cross awarded the First Annual Greater Lafayette Community Hero Award to Officer Nicholas Amor of the Lafayette Police Department. The celebration took place today at the Old National Bank financial center on 350 South at 11:00 AM.

    Water Instructor Safety Training

    Purpose:
    Instructor candidates will train to teach water safety, including the basic water rescue course, six levels of the Learn to Swim Program and Parent/Child Aquatics.

    Prerequisites:
    Must be at least 16 years of age by the last scheduled session of the instructor course. Successfully complete the precourse session.
