Intelligent Mail focus of New England Business Mail Expo

MANCHESTER NH—Business mailers from New Hampshire will join their Massachusetts, Connecticut and Rhode Island counterparts in Boxborough MA on Thursday, April 17, for the annual New England Business Mail Expo (NEBME).

This year’s event will focus on the Intelligent Mail Barcode, where attendees will learn how Intelligent Mail drives improvements in both service and efficiency, and adds more value to their mail. Postmaster General John E. Potter likened this 31-digit bar code to a “GPS system for the mail.”

More than 50 vendors of mail-related services and equipment will also be on hand to show attendees the latest innovations in the mailing industry.

The event is sponsored by Postal Customer Councils (PCC) in the four states. PCCs are comprised of business mailers and postal professionals who actively promote and conduct workshops and seminars designed to educate business mailers in the latest postal programs, products and services.

The NEBME will take place April 17 in the Boxborough Woods Holiday Inn, 242 Adams Place, Boxborough.

The registration fee is $75 per person and includes parking, all sessions, continental breakfast and lunch. Persons can register by sending a check to New England Business Mail Expo, PO Box 5854, Springfield, MA 01101-5854; or by using a credit card and faxing the information to (413) 731-0377 or by registering online at www.newenglandpcc.com. The deadline is April 11.

U.S. Postal Service Chief Marketing Officer and Executive Vice President Anita J. Bizzotto will be the luncheon keynote speaker.

Darren LaCroix, 2001 World champion of Public Speaking, will address the opening session. He is the author of “How to Profit from Humor in Any Business.”

Seminars will touch a number of mailing subjects and more than 50 of the area’s leading suppliers of products and services to mailers will present exhibitions.

More information can be obtained by calling 1-800-322-0377.

An independent federal agency, the U.S. Postal Service is the only delivery service that visits every address in the nation — 146 million homes and businesses. It has 37,000 retail locations and relies on the sale of postage, products and services to pay for operating expenses, not tax dollars. The Postal Service has annual revenues of $75 billion and delivers nearly half the world’s mail.
