Plymouth Postmaster Retires

PLYMOUTH, NH — Friends and former employees attended a retirement party, hosted by the Plymouth Post Office, for Postmaster Linda Mellett. Linda retired after twenty-five years of service with the Postal Service; fifteen of those years were served as Postmaster of Plymouth. Linda has also served as Officer-In-Charge of the Laconia, Hudson, Claremont, Lebanon and Warren post offices and was Postmaster in Woodsville. Linda and her husband Fred own a home in The Villages, Florida and plan to spend part of their winters there.

Jim Adams, NH/VT District Manager for the U.S. Postal Service said “Throughout her entire career, Linda has been a great representative of the Postal Service and a benefit to the community.  It has been an honor working with her.”

An independent federal agency, the U.S. Postal Service is the only delivery service that visits every address in the nation, 146 million homes and businesses, six days a week. It has 37,000 retail locations and relies on the sale of postage, products, and services to pay for operating expenses, not tax dollars. The Postal Service has annual revenues of $75 billion and delivers nearly half the world’s mail.
