The Awards

Nominations for Federal Aviation Awards may be submitted by an executive agency of the federal government that owned or hired aircraft during the period from January 1 - December 31, 2008, to perform their non-military missions

FEDERAL AVIATION PROGRAM AWARD (LARGE CATEGORY-ONE AWARD)
If your agency has a non-DoD program of this kind, federal or contractor, you are eligible for this award:

Federal aviation program with more than 20 aircraft. Flight program teams (federal or contractor) at the field, bureau, or headquarters/departmental level are all eligible for this award.  The winning program will be judged to be most outstanding, that is, the safest and most efficient and effective, in all aspects of a flight program--aviation management/ administration, operations, maintenance, training, and safety. Your fleet may be all federally owned or contractor owned aircraft, or a mix of federally owned/contractor owned aircraft.  Members of the program team may include Federal employees, contractors, or DoD uniform personnel.

GSA is unable to give cash awards to contractors or DoD uniform personnel.  Normally, a designated federal manager (an eligible employee) will receive the $1,500 cash award on behalf of the winning program team, and the funds will be spent on the team according to agency policy. 

FEDERAL AVIATION PROGRAM AWARD (SMALL CATEGORY-ONE AWARD)
If your agency has a non-DoD program of this kind, federal or contractor, you are eligible for this award:

Federal aviation program with 20 or fewer aircraft. Flight program teams (federal or contractor) at the field, bureau, or headquarters/departmental level are all eligible for this award.  The winning program will be judged to be most outstanding, that is, the safest and most efficient and effective, in all aspects of a flight program--aviation management/ administration, operations, maintenance, training, and safety.  Your fleet may be all federally owned or contractor owned aircraft, or a mix of federally owned/ contractor owned aircraft. Members of the program team may include federal employees, contractors, or DoD uniform personnel.

FEDERAL AVIATION PROFESSIONAL AWARD (MANAGERIAL/OFFICIAL-ONE AWARD)
This $1,500 cash award will be given annually to the best Federal Aviation Professional in a managerial or official position.  Executive agencies may nominate any federal employee (GS, WG, SES, etc.) whose primary duties involve management of a non-DoD federal flight program.  Contractors and DoD uniform personnel are not eligible for this award. The winner will be the individual whose accomplishments contributed in the most outstanding manner to improving or sustaining the safety, efficiency, and effectiveness of one or more aspects of his or her agency's federal flight program and/or CAS program

FEDERAL AVIATION PROFESSIONAL AWARD (OPERATIONAL/SUPPORT) (ONE AWARD)
This award will be given annually to the best Federal Aviation Professional in an operational or support position. Executive agencies may nominate any federal, contract employee, or DoD uniform person whose primary duties support a non-DoD federal flight program.  The winner will be the individual who's operational or support skills and accomplishments contributed in the most outstanding manner to improving or sustaining the safety, efficiency, and effectiveness of one or more aspects of his or her agency's Federal flight program and/or CAS program. 

GSA is unable to give cash awards to contractors or DoD uniform personnel.  However, if the winner is an eligible federal employee an award of $1,500 will be given to that person. If the winner is a contractor or DoD uniform person they will receive other recognition.
