Evansville Postal Units Open For Business

Ribbon cutting and open houses set for April 23

EVANSVILLE, IN — The Postal Service continues to widen its service base by opening three new contract postal units (CPUs) in Evansville this month and the public is invited to the celebration. CPUs are Post Offices located inside retail establishments and operated by the retailer's employees.

Grand opening ribbon-cutting ceremonies and open houses will be held at all three locations Thursday, April 23:

  • 11 a.m. Hucks, 3951 N. Green River Road.
  • 12:30 p.m. Seek N Find, 2916 Oakhill Road
  • 2 p.m. El Walters A/C, 12430 N. Green River Road.

Refreshments will be served.

In-store CPUs offer a wide range of Postal Service products and services at the same prices found in traditional Post Offices with the exception of money orders, says Evansville Postmaster Darla Woodall. “Adding three additional postal locations in the city is another way we’re extending our services and making it more convenient to do business with us,” added Woodall.

Hucks owner Todd Jenney, Seek N Find owner Ken Colbert and El Walters A/C owner Lon Walters will join Woodall, along with other local dignitaries, to dedicate the new facilities.

CPU operating hours:

  • Hucks – 6 a.m. to 10 p.m. Monday through Saturday.
  • Seek N Find – 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Friday, and 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday.
  • El Walters A/C – 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Friday, and 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday.

All locations will serve as a collection point for prepaid packages.

Woodall and her staff at the Evansville Main Post Office invite customers to attend the open houses to learn more about the services offered at these new locations.

An independent federal agency, the U.S. Postal Service is the only delivery service that reaches every address in the nation, 149 million residences, businesses and Post Office Boxes, six days a week. It has 34,000 retail locations and relies on the sale of postage, products and services, not tax dollars, to pay for operating expenses. Named the Most Trusted Government Agency five consecutive years by the Ponemon Institute, the Postal Service has annual revenue of $75 billion and delivers nearly half the world’s mail.
