New Tax & DMV Office Hours

Extended Hours. Extended Service. All State Tax Commission and state DMV offices are closed on Fridays, including telephone call-in centers and e-mail assistance, but have extended hours of operation from 7:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m., Monday through Thursday. This is in conjuction with Governor Huntsman's "Working 4 Utah" initiative. Also remember that many tax and motor vehicle services are available online.
 

New Penalty Structure

On March 9, 2009, penalties for late corporate, partnership, withholding, and mineral production withholding returns changed to a tiered rate based on when the return is filed. On May 18, the change will affect IFTA, IRP and Special Fuel User returns. For more information, see Pub 58, Interest and Penalties.

New Withholding Express Online Service

Withholding Express is now available to file withholding returns and pay withholding taxes. This new service replaces the previous W-2 filing system.
