Julie Moore

Julie Moore was named Secretary, United States Postal Service Board of Governors in April 2008. Moore, who was appointed by and serves at the pleasure of the Governors, is responsible for carrying out the duties and functions of the Office of the Board of Governors, including compliance with all statutory requirements and the day-to-day administration of the office. A 26-year Postal Service veteran, Moore is the second woman to serve in this position.

Earlier, Moore was acting vice president, Public Affairs and Communications and was responsible for all internal and external communications for the Postal Service. She has served as Manager of Compensation and was responsible for designing and implementing national pay and benefit policies and for administering the eIdeas and eAwards program.

Moore began her career as a letter carrier in California. Her field experience includes the positions of postmaster, Lindsay, California; manager, delivery programs in Northern Virginia; and acting postmaster/metro manager in Memphis, Tennessee.

At Postal Service headquarters, Moore has held positions including manager, finance in the International Business Unit; manager, corporate budget in the Finance department; and executive director, transformation in the Strategic Planning department where she led the design and development of the 2002 Transformation Plan, for which she received the Postmaster General Award.

Moore is a Sloan Fellow; holds a Master of Science degree in management from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology; a Masters of Business Administration from Loyola College, Maryland, where she graduated Beta Gamma Sigma; and a Bachelor of Science degree in organizational behavior from the University of San Francisco.
