Kathleen Nader loves helping GSA tenants as well as people in her neighborhood

Kathleen Nader, Building Operations Specialist, Public Buildings Service, Tampa, FL, said 'a field office is a fast-paced environment. You're just not doing one job. You have to wear all different kinds of hats'
  • - Kathleen Nader is a Building Operations Specialist for GSA and the team leader for the administrative support group. She pulls together and works with all the project managers and all the different systems, training them on how applications work. “There are only three of us doing that right now. Our operation encompasses facilities in Orlando, Jacksonville, Ocala, Ft. Myers, and Tampa.”

  • - Kathleen works on several GSA-wide systems, including the E2 travel system, FEDdesk, and Pegasys. She also works with “Comprizon” which is GSA’s contracting system.

  • - But to Kathleen the real joy in her job is the opportunity to meet and help people. To her, customer service is paramount and so she gets great satisfaction from helping GSA tenants whether it’s teaching a new online GSA system to employees or taking care of a building repair problem, no problem is too small for Kathleen. Her efforts have brought her letters of commendation from the Internal Revenue Service and Social Security Administration.

  • - One project that brought great professional pride was when she and eleven colleagues decided to help new GSA employees learn the ropes by identifying standard agency operating procedures and packaging them up in a book. This quick reference has helped countless new employee from getting lost. "They can look in the book and find answers to their questions," Kathleen says.

  • - Kathleen’s desire to help people doesn’t stop at the end of the workday. She lives in a neighborhood where neighbors look out for each other. She recalled one incident that makes the point. "There is an older gentleman whose family passed away and we look after him and take care of him. We do it as a group but, I fed him every night for about a year. As a matter of fact, I still do it as well as other things to make sure he is doing okay. This gentleman is up in age and he still is around and doing wonderfully. I personally feel a special comfort in doing that for him.”
