Josh Sawislak, Senior Advisor to the Administrator of GSA, is also serving concurrently as Acting Chief of the Office of Emergency Response and Recovery (OERR) effective February 24, 2008.

The Office of Emergency Response and Recovery is responsible for leveraging all resources within GSA into one central office and providing new level of support and assistance to first responders, emergency workers and recovery teams. GSA is the nation’s premier contracting and acquisition resource and now those assets will be specifically organized to respond to national emergencies.

As senior advisor to the Administrator, Mr. Sawislak provides advice and management support on a wide range of issues related to GSA goals of integrity efficiency, accountability, and providing value to agency customers and the American taxpayer.  He has been involved in many of the critical issues related to the establishment of OERR and supported the development of the National Continuity Policy Implementation Plan (NCPIP).  He is a member of the Administrator’s personal staff and serves as a facilitator and coordinator of interagency working groups, industry information exchange, and other special projects.
 
Prior to his appointment at GSA, Mr. Sawislak held management roles on several of the largest transportation projects in the United States.  In addition, he has managed high-visibility projects in management consulting, emergency planning, environmental management, transportation planning, and infrastructure development.  Mr. Sawislak is a member of the Transportation Research Board, the American Planning Association and the American Institute of Certified Planners.

Mr. Sawislak holds a degree in political science from The George Washington University.
