Emergency Management - Northwest/Arctic

Reacting to Emergency Situations

GSA’s Northwest/Arctic Region is ready to support FEMA and other agencies during incidents of national significance. GSA is responsible for opening and closing federal buildings and leased locations where federal agencies are located. In an emergency GSA provides support – in conjunction with other ESF-7 support agencies and under the terms of the National Response Plan (NRP) - such as buildings and space, supplies, tools and equipment, telecommunications and information technology, transportation, and services.

In the event of an emergency, federal employees should follow their own agency's emergency procedures and monitor media announcements to obtain disaster or emergency-related information. GSA will publish emergency information, when necessary, to www.gsa.gov/emergency.

Proactive Planning & Training

In conjunction with FEMA, GSA helps other federal agencies to be better prepared for emergency situations with training in Continuity of Operations (COOP) planning and exercises.

Agencies occupying GSA owned and leased buildings are reminded to coordinate their alternate work site designation and point of contact information with the Regional Emergency Preparedness Coordinator, using the contact information provided on the upper right.
