Abstract

This agency administers a Statewide program on aging covering all 67 counties in Alabama through area agencies on aging. Area agencies provide comprehensive services through contracts and grants to a wide variety of local agencies, both public and private. Currently, the area agencies on aging are providing nutrition service through over 325 senior centers. Over 1,000 vans are in operation to transport older people to services such as senior centers, medical services, shopping, bill paying, and recreation. In-home services such as minor repairs, homemaker, chore service, and personal care are also provided through the area agencies on aging service delivery system.
