ENERGY STAR Make a Cool Change Campaign

U.S. households have 44.5 million fridges over 10 years old, 12.7 million of which are secondary units, often in basements and garages. And almost a quarter of these fridges are at least 20 years old! Fridges made before 1993 use more than twice the energy of a new ENERGY STAR qualified model. The ENERGY STAR Make a Cool Change: Recycle Your Old Fridge (or Freezer) Campaign, brought to you by the U.S. Department of Energy, encourages every American who owns an old, inefficient refrigerator or freezer to take another step — to save money, energy and the environment by properly recycling that old fridge or freezer. And if a replacement is needed, you can save when you buy a new ENERGY STAR qualified model.

ENERGY STAR Make a Clean Change Campaign

An estimated 84.1 million households have a top-loading washer; 24 million of these are ten years old or older. Clothes washers manufactured before 1999 use more than 4 times the energy of today's ENERGY STAR models. New this year, the ENERGY STAR Make a Clean Change: Recycle Your Old Washer Campaign, brought to you by the U.S. Department of Energy, is an engaging way for you to learn about how much it costs to continue to operate an inefficient clothes washer and how you can properly recycle it and replace it, if needed, with an ENERGY STAR qualified model.

Change the World, Start with ENERGY STAR

This year's national ENERGY STAR campaign builds on the success of 8 years of Change a Light, Change the World with ENERGY STAR. The new campaign broadens the way Americans can join in the fight against global warming by making energy-efficient changes at home and work.

Change the World, Start with ENERGY STAR launches this Earth Day with national media outreach, a new campaign page on energystar.gov, stories from everyday Americans who are saving energy and a new expanded pledge that provides consumers with additional actions they can take to reduce energy use, save money, and join the fight against global warming with ENERGY STAR.

New ENERGY STAR PSA Campaign (2007)

EPA’s new public service campaign promotes ENERGY STAR as an important part of the solution to global warming. A new 30 second TV spot features ordinary individuals who represent the growing number of Americans turning to ENERGY STAR to help save energy, save money, and protect the climate for future generations. The new campaign (which also includes print PSAs) helps to reinforce the very important link between saving energy and preventing global warming. The TV PSA will be distributed nationally and will be part of the larger campaign hat includes print PSAs as well.

Heat Your Home Smartly with ENERGY STAR

This winter, ENERGY STAR offers advice to help Americans to heat their homes smartly and stay comfortable, while also saving energy and preventing the greenhouse gas emissions caused when electricity is generated.

ENERGY STAR Cool Your World Campaign: Summer

The ENERGY STAR Cool Your World Campaign encourages Americans to cool their homes smartly (and stay more comfortable!) with recommendations from ENERGY STAR. When you use less energy, you help protect our environment by preventing the greenhouse gas emissions caused when electricity is generated.

ENERGY STAR Change a Light, Change the World Campaign: Fall

The ENERGY STAR Change a Light, Change the World Campaign is a national challenge to encourage every American to help change the world, one light — one step — at a time. The campaign culminates around ENERGY STAR Change a Light Day (the first Wednesday in October), with promotions running locally and nationally from October 1–November 30. EPA and DOE, along with organizations around the country, are encouraging Americans to take the ENERGY STAR Change a Light Pledge.

ENERGY STAR OPERATION CHANGE OUT — THE MILITARY CHALLENGE:
April 22–Oct 1, 2008

Inspired by the success of the national ENERGY STAR Change a Light, Change the World Campaign, the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) has joined forces with the U.S. Department of Defense (DoD) to create a program for our nation's servicemen and women. OPERATION CHANGE OUT is encouraging military installations in the U.S. to replace inefficient, incandescent light bulbs with ENERGY STAR qualified models.

ENERGY STAR Challenge — Build a Better World 10% at a Time

Announced in March 2005, EPA’s ENERGY STAR Challenge is a call-to-action for America’s building owners to improve energy efficiency across their entire building portfolios. The first step is to become an ENERGY STAR partner and generate a rating for your buildings using EPA’s national energy performance rating system. This rating acts as a baseline against which you can measure your energy improvements. Building owners that make improvements of 10%, 20%, 30% or more, or have a building portfolio rating of 75 or better earn special recognition as ENERGY STAR Leaders. In addition to building owners, states and associations play a central role in the ENERGY STAR Challenge by promoting energy efficiency to their members and constituents.
