National Plant Germplasm System

NCGRP serves as the base collection for the National Plant Germplasm System.

NCGRP’s primary partners for plant genetic resources are Plant Introduction (PI) stations, clonal repositories and plant exploration offices that comprise the USDA-ARS National Plant Germplasm System (NPGS).  NPGS curators at field locations around the US specialize in different crops and evaluate traits, distribute germplasm, maintain crop-specific databases and regenerate inventories when necessary.
