Component Organization and Registration Environment (CORE.gov)

CORE.gov is the Federal Enterprise Architecture's (FEA) Component Center.

What is a component?

A component is a self-contained business process or service with predetermined functionality that may be exposed through a business or technology interface.  CORE.gov offers a cross-agency forum for component development, registration and reuse.

What can CORE.gov do?

  • Allow for rapid discovery and assembly of technology and service components;
  • Provide access over a secure extranet where users have varying levels of access;
  • Provide components that have been tested, approved and certified for reuse and enhancement;
  • Enable approved users to easily find, evaluate, share and download components;
  • Enable collaboration with others on component development;
  • Allow users to enhance downloaded components to meet their specific needs;
  • Provide a user-friendly Internet interface for searching for and finding a wide variety of business process and technical components;
  • Leverage tools and saves money; and
  • Provide a consolidated entry point.

CORE.gov is closely associated and aligned with the FEA initiative, whose goal is to enable cross-agency collaboration, transformation and governmentwide improvement.  CORE.gov offers an environment where such collaboration takes place seamlessly and easily.
