Beginning in late January and lasting through the end of June, a Twin Otter aircraft is obtaining measurements several times a week from the sky above the ARM Climate Research Facility's Southern Great Plains site for the Routine AVP CLOWD Optical Radiative Observations (RACORO) field campaign. This is the first long-term aircraft campaign undertaken for systematic in situ sampling of cloud properties.

The Department of Energy recently announced the selection of major ACRF field campaigns that will take place in 2010. Studies led by prinicipal investigators Rob Wood, Hans Verlinde, and Jay Mace will examine marine, mixed-phase, and cirrus clouds in the Azores, Alaska, the Great Plains, and Colorado.
